6 Unique Places to Eat in Sandwich, MA

Click to book your stay in Sandwich, MA!
Sandwich, Massachusetts, the oldest town on Cape Cod, holds a special place in my heart (and belly). As my hometown, I’ve been able to explore Sandwich’s beaches, historical landmarks, museums, art galleries, and of course, all things food. Below, you’ll find a guide to the 6 most unique and taste-filled spots that will be sure to satisfy your appetite.

1. Fishermen's View

20 Freezer Rd | Sandwich, MA, 02563 | 508-591-0088 | www.fishermensview.com
Known for their delicious seafood and homemade corn bread with maple chipotle chili butter, Fishermen’s View is uniquely located in the Sandwich Marina and adjacent to the famous Cape Cod Canal. At this boat-to-table restaurant, you can literally watch your dinner get unloaded from the fishing boats. Now do you see where the name comes from? You can observe various vessels as they travel through the canal and if you go around sundown, you'll witness unforgettable sunsets.

Spicy Tuna Lobster Roll

Something that initially drew me in was the mention of their spectacular sushi specials, which have since turned into their own, more extensive menu. Their tasty combination of rolls will fill the needs of a more cautious sushi consumer to the most adventurous. My favorite is their “Spicy Tuna Lobster Roll”, which has chilled lobster on the inside, topped with spicy tuna, citrusy lemon, and a sweet eel sauce drizzle. All the flavors perfectly complement each other, while also fulfilling your lobster fix.
They also have an outside bar, “Sandie’s”, to enjoy a drink while you wait for a table and listen to some local live music. If you’re looking for a more casual night in, they have a full fish market and their entire menu is offered for take-out.

2. The Brown Jug

155 Main St | Sandwich, MA, 02563 | 508-888-4669 | www.thebrownjug.com
Cheese & Margherita PizzasCheese & Margherita Pizzas
Located in the Sandwich Village, The Brown Jug started out as a specialty food and wine shop. Expanding from their gourmet foods to-go, they created an outdoor café with a cozy garden seating area, complete with a large brick pizza oven, where you can watch your fresh pizza being made and baked right in front of you. This is a nice, casual lunch and dinner option, as you order inside and choose a seat outside while you wait for your food to arrive.

Red Sangria

There’s an outside bar, "Vines", that offers a selection of cocktails, beer and wine, and a red sangria that’s too good to pass up (Pssst, you can get a pitcher of it). While they have a variety of topping options, I prefer the classic cheese or the margherita. The cheese is always bubbling hot upon arrival and the crust a perfect crispy texture. I have yet to try their salads and sandwiches, but I have no doubt they’re equally as amazing.

3. The Dunbar House

1 Water St | Sandwich, MA, 02563 | 508-833-2485 | www.dunbarteashop.com
The Dunbar House has been one of my favorite places for as long as I can remember. I’ve been to countless afternoon teas with my mom, bridal showers, birthday lunches, or to simply enjoy a glass of wine in their quaint wine bar. This versatile eatery never disappoints and, although there have been different owners over the years, the traditions have remained the same. I’m still able to go in for a pot of tea (or two) and their “Windsor Afternoon Tea” platter, which is filled with layers of tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and their decadent desserts. They also offer full breakfast and lunch menus and have a shop with teas for purchase from the largest tea selection on Cape Cod.

4. Off The Grid

91 Route 6A | Sandwich, MA, 02563 | 508-241-8684 | www.facebook.com/OffTheGridCC
A newer addition to Sandwich is the Off The Grid BBQ food truck. This isn’t your typical side of the road food truck that you may be thinking of. Their space offers numerous outdoor tables, a fire pit area, and live music, ensuring a fantastic time. One tip before visiting? Bring your appetite.
The Pig LebowskiThe Pig Lebowski
The menu has a wide range of options, from salads to poutine to BBQ plates, and my favorite, the specialty sandwiches. During my last visit, I was able to try two of these delectable dishes. The first was “The Pig Lebowski”, a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun, topped with fried pickles, coleslaw, and their house BBQ sauce. It was sauced to perfection and piled high. Needless to say, the stack of napkins given to us was necessary.

The Mac Daddy

The second, and fan favorite, was the “Mac Daddy”. Mac being the key word, this burger was topped with American cheese, bacon and grilled mac and cheese. As if this wasn't flavorful enough, its layer of truffle aioli was sure to send your taste buds soaring. This unique stop is a must-go while visiting Sandwich.

5.Ice Cream Sandwich

66 Route 6A | Sandwich, MA, 02563 | www.icecreamsandwichcc.com
This wouldn’t be a proper food post without mentioning dessert. The owners of Off The Grid recently revived a Sandwich staple, Ice Cream Sandwich. While keeping some of the classic ice cream options, Ice Cream Sandwich made its name proud by offering ice cream sandwiches that are anything but average. Options include their “Fruity Pebble Sando”, the "Chocolate Chip Sando" cookie sandwiches, and the ultimate ice cream sandwich, the “Stuffed Donut Sando” aka two hand cut donuts stuffed with any ice cream of your choosing. Saving the stuffed donut for another day, I went with the fresh “Oatmeal Cookie Sando” filled with homemade Maine blueberry ice cream. It was every ice cream fan’s dream, leaving you wanting more but physically unable to eat another bite. There's no doubt that I'll be returning.

6. The Sandwich Boardwalk

103 Wood Ave | Sandwich, MA, 02563
Last, but certainly not least, is The Sandwich Boardwalk. While it isn’t a food establishment, this iconic landmark is a perfect spot for packing a picnic or bringing your takeout to a place with the ultimate view. The 1,350 ft walk takes you to Town Neck Beach, located on Cape Cod Bay, ideal for throwing down a blanket and enjoying a meal on the edge of the gorgeous Mill Creek.
Although all of the places mentioned above provide takeout, here are some additional options for excellent dine-in & to-go meals.
